Lake Michigan Wind Farm Meetings
tate Representative Dan Scripps Views on Wind Farms in Lake Michigan
One of the things that came up at representative Dan Scripps monthly meeting at Ludington House of Flavors Restaurant was the offshore wind farm idea of Norwegian Skandia Wind Offshore Company. There are quite a few of his constituents that are against this idea because they feel that the wind turbines that are proposed are too close to shore and will create an eyesore and reduce property values. The Skandia Wind Offshore Company was complemented by State Rep. Dan Scripps for wanting to be open and seeking comments from the public. As of right now there is no process in place for handling wind farms in Lake Michigan. Rep. Dan Scripps has been asked to work on a legislative group to set in process something for handling such a request. A study showed there is 537 square miles of Great Lakes area that are suitable for development that meets the needs of the industry in which none of these areas are near the Ludington or Pentwater area. The best acceptable places are Saginaw Bay in Lake Huron, the northern shore of Lake Michigan near Escanaba, and the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. It is also recommended that wind farm be at least 6 miles offshore in some areas and 13 miles offshore in designated national lakeshores to lesson visual and aesthetic effects. Other concerns of the different people are turbines leaking oil, tourism, fishing, and sail boat and yacht traffic to the Pentwater area. Some area residents say that we have too little to gain and too much to lose by rushing into this with little forethought and no long-range plans of what effect it will have on our boating, fishing, and tourism which already brings in millions and millions of dollars every year.
Any one that is interested in the wind farms in Lake Michigan project, either for it or against it, should contact your state representative. Dan Scripps, 517-737-0825, Email danscripps@house.mi.gov or Goeff Hansen, 517-373-7317, Email goeffhansen@house.mi.gov.

I truly like the style of the internet site. I had a peek at your source code, hope you don’t mind, to check what theme you are using. Is it it a no cost theme or do I’ve to purchase it?
