Most every on knows what solar energy means but most people don’t know what it can be used for. All of us know that it comes from the sun and the amount of energy the sun has by setting out in it on a hot summer day and feel the amount of heat that the sun can produce on our body. Now we can take this sunlight and radiation and use it to produce electric energy with the new technology we have today. Solar energy is a friend to the environment and is risk free. Use this type of energy to produce electricity and we will be helping the planet.
Solar energy for the home is environmental friendly and it can lower your electric bills to a more manageable cost when used to produce electric for your home. Some of the other things that are solar powered are the newer solar lights that are used around walkways and other places around the home. I live on a lake and have a thirty foot dock that my son docks his boat on. I purchased six flat type solar powered lights and in about fifteen minutes had them fastened to the dock with screws, no hassle, no fuss. no wiring and very simple. When we come in from fishing at night the dock looks like an airplane runway and the lights will stay on until about four o’clock in the morning.
I also use the new type compact florescent bulbs in all of my lamps in the house. These are a huge savings because they are only thirteen watts consumption compared to the normal sixty watt incandescent light blub but will give off the same amount of light.

Solar panels and wind turbines are the most common types of alternative energy sources. The two types can be tied together to utilize the best of both forms of alternative energy.
